The Philippine Sports Commission has advised all national athletes to suspend their training outdoors on Monday in light with the Taal Volcano eruption over the weekend.

The government sports agency made the announcement on all its social media platforms as safety and health precautions.

“All national team members are advised that training outdoors is prohibited at the moment in light of the ashfall due to Mt. Taal’s eruption. Keep safe,” the advisory read.

Mt Taal, located around 80 kilometers south of Manila, erupted on Sunday afternoon and sent ashfall as far as 14 kilometers.

Most members of the national team train at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Vito Cruz, Taft and the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.

Metro Manila also suspended classes on all levels as well as work on government offices.
