Team Governor Silliman Sy confirmed that the deal that will give Racela the opportunity to turn the Elite’s fortunes after a dismal campaign in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Blackwater slid to 2-9 in the season-ending conference after making the quarterfinals of the Commissioner’s Cup.

Racela returns after handling TNT KaTropa from 2016 to 2018. During his tenure, the KaTropa reached the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup Finals but lost to the San Miguel Beermen in six games.

He had a record of 50-42 before leaving at the middle of the 2018 Governors’ Cup.

After his TNT stint, Racela returned to FEU as a consultant while serving as an assistant coach of Eric Gonzales with Iloilo in the MPBL.

Rumors swirled the previous week that La Salle was eyeing Racela as its next coach.

The younger brother of Far Eastern University coach and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel assistant Olsen Racela will reunite with Mac Belo and Mike Tolomia, his former players when he steered the Tamaraws to the 2015 UAAP championship.
